Criminal Justice students at the Round Rock Higher Education Center won first and second places in the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition hosted annually by the Southwest Association of Criminal Justice Educators (SWACJE). First place went to Ms. Ashton Roberts for her research paper discussing substance abuse treatment alternatives while second place went to Patsy Leon for her paper on human trafficking crimes in Eastern Europe. Both students received cash awards. SWACJ's institutional membership is composed of colleges and universities in a 5 state region (New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma & Arkansas). Only about 5% of Criminal Justice majors at Texas State University are located at the Round Rock campus.

Students in Advanced Criminal Justice Management organized a Career Days for the Round Rock campus in November and hosted representatives from about 20 state, federal, local , and nonprofit employers. It is hoped this will become an annual event because the representatives present expressed interest in discussing career options with student from several other majors, especially Computer Science.
