Another successful and productive academic semester has ended and we are fast approaching the summer sessions. Thank you to all of you who continuously contribute to making the RRHEC a spectacular success. There are a number of major accomplishments this semester. Among them are the following:
Electronic Newsletter ‐‐ In an effort to communicate with all of you in a more timely and efficient manner, the newsletter will be produced electronically. Tracy Rawls is receiving information from all of you and your departments regarding any updates or news you may want to share to the broader RRHEC faculty, staff, student, and external community. In the near future we will also have a newsletter that is only accessible by Texas State folks.
Imagine – One of our more visible efforts has been the addition of artwork to the fourth floor walls. The Round Rock Arts Council hosted its kick‐off event in February here at the Avery Building for an evening of music, theater, and art. The RR Arts Council will continue to host events in our building so we can look forward to more artwork in the future.
STEP Award—Congratulations are in order for Kristi Rickman and the One Stop Center for being recognized with a Silver Award for the student services they provide to transfer students. This award was jointly given by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Staff Service Awards – In April, Barbara Herdman was recognized for 20 years of service to the University. I was recognized for 10 years of service. Time certainly flies when we are growing and having fun.
Nursing Building—And of course, we can see the progress going on in our own backyard with the construction of the Nursing Building. Construction is on schedule so we look forward to a Fall 2010 opening.
Building Modifications – In connection with the Nursing Building construction, you will also notice renovations on the fourth floor. The adjunct faculty offices are being renovated to accommodate some of the Nursing School faculty and support staff until the building opens in Fall 2010. We should be able to welcome some of the Nursing faculty as early as July 2009 – this summer.
Thanks again for all you do to make education and services available to the students and citizens of our community.
