New Graduate Students - Tips for Getting Started

We are pleased you are interested in completing your coursework at Texas State’s Round Rock Higher Education Center (RRHEC). The following information lists some simple steps to ensure a smooth transition as you begin with Texas State at the RRHEC.

Graduate Getting Started Tips

1.  Establish Login information:

Be sure to establish your CatsWeb PIN and then set up your Texas State NetID and Password which will allow you to register for classes initially. After you establish your NetID and Password, you will only need your PIN if you forget your login information.

2.  Explore classes needed:

Begin by determining classes for which you need to register. The recommended sequences of courses can typically be found on the department website or by logging in to view your Degree Audit Report online.

3.  Determine when you can register:

Your access times are available to view by logging in to the Check Holds and Registration Eligibility site. Or you can view the general access times by choosing the appropriate semester from this website.

4.  Explore Schedule of Classes:

Click on the following link to explore the course options for Round Rock students.  If you plan to take courses at both San Marcos and Round Rock, then I recommend utilizing this schedule site. Next, click on the appropriate semester link beneath the heading “Sections by Course”.

5.  Register for Classes:

Please explore the Instructions on how to register for classes. Then, during your access times, visit the Student Services page in Catsweb and click on Registration and Schedule Changes.

6.  Attend NSO at the RRHEC (OPTIONAL):

We encourage you to consider attending our New Student Orientation (NSO) at the RRHEC. Graduate students are not required to attend an NSO. However, to make the most of your Texas State experience at the Round Rock Center, we encourage graduate students to attend. Go online for further information about what orientation includes and the dates they are offered.

7.  Order your Parking Permit online:

You will need to input your vehicle information and license plate number. Be sure to order your Parking Permit before classes begin!

8.  Pay your Tuition and Fees:

Be sure to pay your tuition and fees online prior to the payment deadline. You can access the Academic Calendar online for  all of the key dates related to registration.)

9.  Order Textbooks:

The University Bookstore is available to our students for textbooks either online or by traveling to San Marcos. We currently do not have a bookstore at the Round Rock Center.

If you have any questions about the classes you need or have problems with registration, then we recommend contacting your advisor or the department for assistance. The list of academic advisors for degrees offered at the RRHEC and their contact information can be found online. If you are unable to reach someone in the department, then feel free to contact us here in the One Stop Center

We are eager to assist you in any way we can to help you get started at the Texas State Round Rock Higher Education Center. With registration for the next semester fast approaching, please feel free to contact us at 512-716-4040 if we can provide you any further assistance. I hope the steps we provided are helpful!
